FOUNDATIONS OF PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
1. Commitment to Students and Student Learning.
By providing a wide variety of resources, this section (Electrochemistry) is conducive to individualized and differentiated teaching strategies. It is the intention of the author, through the suggestion of activities and usable resources, to promote the creation of a learning environment in which students are treated equitably and with respect.
2. Leadership in Learning Communities.
This website is a collaborative effort by five colleagues. By participating in the creation of it, we have recognized our individual, and most importantly, our shared leadership roles in the facilitation of student success. The website, which is catered to colleagues, upholds the principles of the ethical standards in all learning communities.
3. Ongoing Professional Learning.
The creation of the Electrochemistry section on this website required a great amount of self-directed learning, research, colleague collaboration, and knowledge. As this section is a work in progress, it is important that I, the author, become committed to ongoing research and to the betterment of the website.
4. Professional Knowledge.
As a member of the Ontario College of Teachers, it is the author's responsibility to strive to be and stay current in professional knowledge and recognize its relationship to practice. The designing of this website required the research of the upmost current trends, technologies and pedagogical ideas available to facilitate student learning. The gathering and presentation of resources on this section of the website included reviewing, and the building upon, of previously obtained knowledge.
5. Professional Practice.
This website facilitates and encourages the use of appropriate pedagogy, assessment and evaluation methods, as it provides ideas and presents many resources which respond to the needs of individual students and learning communities. As the creator of this section of the website, I encourage and welcome feedback and dialogue by colleagues. I commit to constantly reflecting on the effectiveness of the suggested resources.
