Foundations of Professional Practice
Commitment to Students and Student Learning: The lessons, activities and resources compiled to aid in the teaching of organic chemistry have been carefully chosen to cater to different learning styles (i.e., visual, audio, kinesthetic, tactile, etc). The lessons have also been carefully crafted to incorporate a variety of differentiated instructional strategies.
Professional Knowledge: All content covered in the lessons and resources is in line with strand B of the Grade 12 University Preparation Chemistry course curriculum, as outlined in the Ontario Science Curriculum, 2008. Lesson plans have implemented the most current research in effective educational practices, such as differentiated instruction, cooperative student-centered learning, and personal relevance to content being learned. Leadership in Learning Communities: Each lesson incorporates some type of student-centered activiy that provides students with opportunities for collaborative learning through group work, whether it be in the form of labs, in class research projects, sorting cards, or making molecular models. |
